We come in all different shapes and sizes, and that is definitely something to be celebrated! If you’ve heard a lot about women’s body shapes, but you’re still unsure of which one you are – don’t worry!
Take a full length photo of yourself, print it out, and draw around your body outline (you can ignore your arms & legs). Voila – there is your body shape!
If you need a little more help, you can check out this handy article. It explains there are 12 different body types, but I’m about to outline the 5 most common ones below.
Triangle
If you’re bottom-heavy, you need a dress that accentuates the top half of your body. Empire lines are especially flattering, as are A-line styles. A dress with a lightly embellished neckline and strappy detailing, will draw attention upward. Try to look for a style that flows loosely over the hips and sits below the knees.
Inverted Triangle
If you have an inverted body shape, choose a dress that dramatises your upper body. Halter, strapless or sleeveless styles are the perfect way to achieve this. Also look for A-lines that create the appearance of a fuller bottom half, to balance out your top.
Oval
Keep your eye out for soft V-necks, A-lines, and a cinched under bust line, to ensure that it flatters your shape. You need to draw attention to your upper body, and an empire dress is perfect for this, and will gracefully flow over the lower half over your body.
Rectangle
Look for form-fitting shapes, gentle ruching to create a curvy illusion, and revealing necklines. Square necklines, and fitted or cinched waistlines are a rectangle’s friend! Another way to create a curvier look for a rectangle, is through a voluminous skirt. Belts can also create great definition for your body shape.
Hourglass
Your figure is already balanced, so you don’t need to do anything to balance it – lucky you! You can show off your gorgeous curves in figure hugging A-line dresses, jersey body-cons, wrap dresses, and sheath dresses – which are all perfect to highlight your natural figure.
No matter what shape you are, it’s time to embrace your beautiful body, and learn to love what you have been blessed with. You can check out our full range of dresses available to purchase right now by clicking here.
