London Fashion Week is an iconic event in the global fashion calendar, where both established designers and emerging talents converge to showcase their latest innovations and designs for the upcoming season.
The Why Mary label was honoured to be invited back (for a third time) by Oxford Fashion Studio to showcase in their EMERGE runway production to be held at Devonshire Square in the arty district of Shoreditch. Known for it's fashionable clubs, bars and young creatives, the event was well patronised by fashion forward influencers, media and buyers.
Our SS24 collection "Virtues of Venus" was inspired by the captivating essence of the mythological Roman goddess, known as Aphrodite in ancient Greek mythology. With her origins said to arise from the sea foam, she embodies a mesmerising combination of strength and beauty.
The collection aimed to capture the dichotomy of her sensuality and revered power by using soft flowing fabrics, dramatic feminine cowl necklines contrasted with more structured commanding styles.
Perfectly styled by Brisbane based stylist, Haus of Simone, the looks were elevated with impressive goddess inspired jewellery and armour, sexy gold heels and shell clutches as a nod to the Aphrodite rising from the sea. A stunning headpiece, designed by @flora_fascinata_millinery, adorned the hero look symbolising both her grace and divine authority.
